January 8, 2021
One of my 2020 goals (or as I like to call them, “efforts”), was to get this blog up and running. And, unsurprisingly – because 2020 and because twin toddlers – that didn’t happen.
I’d say “oops”, but honestly, 2020 was full of things that I didn’t plan on but definitely needed. And though the year ended with lots of loose ends and plans changed, I’m choosing a mindset of gratitude for those things that I didn’t plan on, but the good Lord knew I needed: less time in front of a computer, more time on the floor with my kiddos. Less time spending money at restaurants with Robert, more time staying in and cooking for us after the kids go to bed. Less time complaining about not having time or energy to exercise, more time to get back on the wagon and run again. Less time sharing things on Instagram, and more time living life in real-time without letting obligation pull me away to social media.
And ya know what? Despite a pandemic, I shot a lot of families (outdoors and socially distanced, of course). And every. single. family. said the same. They, too, had loose ends and chaos and moments of “I’m not sure how we’re surviving”, but they all were determined to soak in the parts they knew were a gift, even if sometimes it didn’t feel like it. I think that’s why so many showed up for pictures, ya know?
So I’m starting the blog in 2021 with a recap of 2020’s Fall/Winter-session goodness, and I just may take a deeper dive over the coming weeks of many of these sweet families who I get to see again and again as their families grow.
Thank you, sweet families, for allowing me to freeze time in a frame for you, even in a wild, wacky year like 2020.
